About

Currant Creek Campground is situated on a hillside above Currant Creek Reservoir at 8,000 feet elevation in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The campground features 83 single sites, 15 double sites, and 4 group sites spread across multiple loops among stands of aspen, fir, and lodgepole pine trees that provide partial shade. Nearly every campsite offers scenic views of the reservoir and surrounding mountains. The reservoir is popular for fishing rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout, and a boat ramp provides access for motorized and non-motorized watercraft. Numerous trails crisscross the area, including a scenic loop around the reservoir and the Currant Creek Trail which begins in D Loop. Race Track Creek Trailhead and Coal Mine Hollow are nearby, offering off-road vehicle trails, additional hiking, and fishing opportunities. Deer and elk frequent the area, and summer wildflowers are abundant. The campground is managed by Utah Recreation Company and includes a host on-site, paved roads and parking spurs, flush toilets, drinking water, fire rings, grills, picnic tables, a dump station, a wheelchair-accessible fishing pier, and a playground. Firewood is available for purchase. A 2-day minimum stay is required on weekends and a 3-day minimum on holiday weekends, with a 7-day stay limit. Pets must be leashed, and ATVs/OHVs are prohibited in the campground.
