About
Renegade Campground occupies a scenic location along the shore of Strawberry Reservoir in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest at 7,700 feet elevation. The campground sits among rolling sagebrush-covered hills and valleys, offering sweeping views of the reservoir and surrounding landscape. While the setting provides excellent visibility, there are no trees and no shade at any of the campsites. Distant hillsides feature stands of aspens and pines. The reservoir is a major draw for anglers targeting rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and Kokanee salmon. Boating, water skiing, and canoeing are popular activities on the water. The Renegade Day Use Area sits just 1/4 mile below the campground, providing beach access, a marina, and additional boat ramp facilities. A fish cleaning station is available at the campground. Beyond water-based recreation, visitors can explore the 75-mile Strawberry OHV Trail System, and hikers and mountain bikers enjoy extensive trail access. The nearby Strawberry Visitor Center features interpretive displays, a working fish trap and egg collection station, and a nature trail.
Directions
From Heber City, take Highway 40 east for 28 miles to Strawberry Bay Junction. Turn right and travel 12 miles to the campground.
