Canoeists on the River
Open

About

Akers Campground sits along the pristine Current River in Missouri's Ozark National Scenic Riverways, offering group tent camping in a forested Ozark landscape. The campground features 4 group sites positioned right along the water, making it ideal for groups planning canoeing, tubing, swimming, and fishing excursions. The crystal-clear spring-fed river is one of the clearest in the country. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets and seasonal potable water (available April 15 through October 15). Modern restrooms at the nearby Akers Ranger Station are also open seasonally, while heated shower houses are available year-round at Round Spring, Big Spring, and Alley Spring campgrounds. There are no hookups, and RVs are not permitted. Several miles of hiking and horseback riding trails are accessible from the area, including the Ozark Trail, Alley Overlook Trail, and Cave Spring Trail. Nearby Round Spring Cave offers ranger-guided tours during summer months, and the historic Alley Mill is a short drive away.

Directions

From Salem, Missouri, take Highway 19 south 4 miles, then turn right on Highway KK for 16 miles to Akers Campground. The campground is 0.5 mile north of Akers Ferry at the junction of Highways K and KK.
