About

Silver Lake Campground occupies a scenic location at 7,200 feet elevation between 97-acre Silver Lake and Rush Creek, with dramatic views of 11,000 and 12,000-foot peaks of the Ansel Adams Wilderness. The 63-site campground features a mix of creekside and lakeside sites, some shaded by aspen and willow trees, others in open areas. Each site includes a picnic table, campfire ring, and bear-proof locker. The campground serves as an excellent base for fishing rainbow trout in Rush Creek and Silver Lake, which has a 10 mph speed limit for boating. A nearby trailhead provides access to the Ansel Adams Wilderness, while a relaxing 1-mile trail follows Rush Creek through the campground. A boat launch, pack station, small store, and cafe are all within easy walking distance. The June Lake Loop scenic drive offers expansive views of rugged mountain peaks and multiple alpine lakes. This is active bear country, and proper food storage in provided bear lockers is mandatory. The small town of June Lake offers amenities nearby, and both Mono Lake and Yosemite National Park make excellent day trips.
