About

Silver Lake Campground is positioned between 97-acre Silver Lake and the dramatic peaks of the Ansel Adams Wilderness in California's eastern Sierra Nevada. At 7,200 feet elevation, the campground sits at the base of 11,000 to 12,000-foot mountain peaks along the scenic June Lake Loop. Rush Creek borders the facility, offering creekside camping opportunities among aspen and willow trees. The 63-site campground provides flush toilets, drinking water from hand pumps, bear-proof food lockers, fire rings, and picnic tables. Sites accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet. A boat ramp provides lake access where boating is permitted at speeds under 10 mph. Rainbow trout fishing is popular in both Silver Lake and Rush Creek. Trail access to the Ansel Adams Wilderness draws hikers and horseback riders, with a pack station nearby. A small store and cafe are within walking distance. The town of June Lake offers additional amenities, and Mono Lake and Yosemite National Park make excellent day trips from this base camp.
