About
Aerie Crag Picnic Area and Campground sits at 7,200 feet elevation along Rush Creek on the scenic June Lake Loop (CA 158) in the Inyo National Forest. With Carson Peak rising to 10,909 feet as a backdrop, the setting combines high-country lakeside scenery with proximity to Yosemite National Park, Mono Lake, and the Ansel Adams Wilderness. The site operates primarily as a day-use picnic area but opens for RV camping during busy summer months when neighboring campgrounds like Silver Lake reach capacity. Only self-contained RVs up to 44 feet are permitted; tent camping is not allowed. The 10 sites are first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. Facilities are minimal: flush toilets and picnic tables at each site, but no potable water, hookups, or dump station. Campers must bring their own water supply; the nearest sources are Silver Lake Campground and Rush Creek Trailhead. Quiet hours run 10 PM to 6 AM, and leashed dogs are welcome.
Directions
From US 395 north of Mammoth Lakes, go west on CA 158 (June Lake Loop). The campground is along Rush Creek between June Lake and Silver Lake.
