About

Green Lakes State Park offers 137 campsites nestled in wooded areas surrounding two rare glacial lakes. The park's outstanding features are Round Lake and Green Lake, both meromictic lakes where surface and bottom waters do not mix, creating unique ecosystems with high potential for ancient plant and animal life. The campground provides a peaceful retreat just 15 minutes from downtown Syracuse with access to nearly 20 miles of hiking trails, a sandy swimming beach, an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, and boat rentals. The park protects old-growth forests and offers four-season recreation including cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Campsites range from $20-$39 per night, and the park also features 7 rental cabins. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, and a camp store. Pets are allowed with restrictions, and the park offers an accessible beach wheelchair. The park prohibits outside boats or watercraft on the lakes to protect the sensitive ecosystems. Reservations open 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica for dates between March 15 and Labor Day.
