Green Lakes State Park sits just east of Syracuse in central New York, centered around two remarkable meromictic glacial lakes that maintain their distinctive blue-green color year-round due to unique stratification that prevents water mixing. The park's 137 campsites are spread across several loops including Rolling Hills and Pinewoods, with options ranging from basic tent sites to full-hookup RV spots accommodating rigs up to 60 feet. The campground provides modern amenities including hot showers, flush restrooms, a dump station, and potable water throughout. A camp store operates from late May through Labor Day. Each loop offers access to the park's extensive trail system covering over 10 miles through old-growth forest, including the popular lake loop trails. The beach on Green Lake opens Memorial Day through Labor Day with swimming, and kayak rentals are available. Beyond camping, visitors enjoy an 18-hole golf course, fishing, playgrounds, and pavilions for group gatherings. The park's proximity to Syracuse makes it popular for weekend getaways while still offering a forested retreat atmosphere. Cabins are also available for those preferring more structured accommodations.

Located at 7900 Green Lakes Road, Fayetteville, NY 13066. The park is approximately 10 miles east of Syracuse. From I-481, take Exit 5E and follow Route 290 East to the park entrance.
