Schwarz Park Campground sits in the low foothills of the Calapooya Mountains, surrounded by marshland, coniferous forests, and grasslands below Dorena Lake. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this established campground offers 65 sites including single-family, double-family, and six group sites. Amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, a dump station, and a large playground. Each site has a picnic table and campfire ring. No hookups are available. Dorena Lake provides excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, fishing, and swimming. Baker Bay County Park nearby offers a boat ramp and marina. The Row River Trail stretches 14 miles from downtown Cottage Grove past Dorena Dam along the north side of the lake, open to hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. The Cottage Grove Scenic Byway Tour passes seven historic covered bridges built in the 1920s and 30s, several still in use today. Weather during the recreation season is generally mild with temperatures ranging from the low 50s to upper 90s, though precipitation is common from May through mid-June. Alcohol is prohibited on all Army Corps of Engineers lands at Dorena Lake.

Directions

From Cottage Grove, Oregon, take Exit 174 off Interstate 5. Travel east on Row River Road for approximately 5 miles, crossing Row River twice. The campground entrance is on the left immediately after the second river crossing.
