About

Sandy Beach Lake Campground occupies a scenic spot on the southeast corner of Sandy Beach Lake in the northwest portion of the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. The campground features 33 reservable campsites numbered 1901-1933, with sites 1914-1916 designated as walk-to tent-only sites requiring a short hike from the parking area. The rustic campground provides minimal facilities typical of NHAL forest campgrounds: vault toilet buildings, hand pumps for potable water, and separate trash and recycling dumpsters. A large picnic area and sandy beach provide excellent swimming access, while a boat launch near the entrance offers lake access for fishing and paddling. Firewood is available for purchase at the campground. Reservations are required and can be made through the Wisconsin State Parks reservation system up to 11 months in advance. The campground operates seasonally from the Thursday before Memorial Day through Labor Day. As a rustic state forest campground, there are no electrical hookups, showers, or dump stations.
