About

Jag Lake Group Campground is a rustic, tent-only group camping facility located in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest in Vilas County, Wisconsin. Designed specifically for large groups such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and church groups, the campground can accommodate up to 80 campers. The site is equipped with vault toilets and hand pumps for drinking water, providing basic amenities while maintaining a primitive camping experience. The campground is situated on Jag Lake, a 162-acre lake with a maximum depth of 27 feet and a bottom composition of 60% sand, 20% gravel, and 20% rock. The lake offers excellent opportunities for swimming, motorized boating, canoeing, and fishing for panfish, walleye, musky, and largemouth and smallmouth bass. Reservations are required and can be made up to 11 months in advance through the Wisconsin State Park reservation system. The campground is accessible only to registered campers, with gates locked when not in use. Stays are limited to seven nights per visit and only seven nights within any 14-day period. All vehicles require a Wisconsin State Park and Forest vehicle admission pass.

From the intersection of Highways 51 and 47 in Woodruff, travel north on Highway 51 approximately 13 miles to County Highway H. Turn right on County Highway H, go about 1.5 miles to North Creek Road. Turn right on North Creek Road. Go approximately 1 mile; the Jag Lake Group Campground is on the left.
