About

Big Lake Campground occupies sites 1801-1870 along the northwest shore of Big Lake, an 835-acre lake celebrated for its walleye, muskie, and smallmouth bass fishing. Located in Vilas County within the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest, the campground offers a quintessential Northwoods experience with widely spaced sites and rustic amenities. As a rustic campground, Big Lake provides minimal facilities: four vault toilet buildings, three hand pumps for potable water, and trash/recycling dumpsters. There are no electrical hookups. Firewood is sold on-site, and a boat launch within the campground provides direct lake access. Reservations are required and can be made through wisconsin.goingtocamp.com or by calling 1-888-947-2757, from same-day up to 11 months in advance. The campground operates seasonally from late April through early November.
