About

Sagehen Meadows Campground offers a remote, rustic camping experience at 8,140 feet elevation in the Inyo National Forest. Located approximately 2 miles off Highway 120 East via Forest Service Road 1N02A and 1N02, this undeveloped camping area sits on the outskirts of Mono Lake with views of the lake several miles away. The nearest town is Lee Vining. This is a dispersed camping area with minimal amenities. Sites are spread out and equipped with picnic tables, but campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system. Access is via dirt road, and the remote location makes it ideal for those seeking solitude and a true backcountry experience. The campground is free of charge and has a 28-day stay limit per six-month period. Due to the high elevation and snow, the campground is closed during winter months. Campers should bring sun protection and be prepared for primitive conditions with no services available on-site.

Directions

From Highway 395, turn east onto Highway 120 East. Travel approximately 2 miles, then turn onto Forest Service Road 1N02, followed by Forest Service Road 1N02A. Access is via dirt road.
