About

Crooked Meadows Campground offers a true backcountry camping experience in the Mono Lake and Glass Mountain environs of Inyo National Forest. Located at 8,800 feet elevation several miles south of Mono Lake, this free, primitive campground provides an opportunity to get away from it all in a geologically fascinating area. The campground features dispersed sites with minimal amenities, including pit toilets and picnic tables. Campers must bring their own water and be prepared for primitive conditions. Access requires driving on dirt roads, following Forest Service Road 1S17 off Taylor Canyon Road, which branches from Pilot Springs Road off Highway 120 East. The nearest town is Lee Vining. Operating on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations or fees, Crooked Meadows is ideal for self-sufficient campers seeking solitude and access to the unique landscapes of the eastern Sierra Nevada. The campground is closed during winter months due to snow and elevation.

Directions

From Highway 395, take Highway 120 East. Turn onto Pilot Springs Road, then Taylor Canyon Road, then Forest Service Road 1S17. Access requires driving on dirt roads.
