About

Crooked Meadows Campground sits at 8,800 feet elevation several miles south of Mono Lake in a geologically fascinating area of Inyo National Forest. The campground offers a remote, primitive camping experience in the Glass Mountain region, far from the crowds of more developed campgrounds. Access is via a series of dirt roads: from Highway 120 East (east of Highway 395), take Pilot Springs Road to Taylor Canyon Road, then Forest Service Road 1S17 to the campground. The road conditions are rough enough that airing down tires may be advisable for some vehicles. This is not suitable for large RVs or trailers. As a primitive campground, facilities are minimal. Pit toilets and picnic tables are provided, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring all water needed for their stay. The campground is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations available.

Directions

From Highway 120 East (east of Highway 395 near Lee Vining), take Pilot Springs Road south. Follow to Taylor Canyon Road, then take Forest Service Road 1S17 to the campground. Roads are unpaved and may be rough.
