About
Lake Durant Campground is located on the east shore of 327-acre Lake Durant in the Central Adirondacks, offering a remote setting with breathtaking views of Blue Mountain. The campground features 65 large, well-forested campsites that provide privacy and can accommodate camping equipment from tents to 30-foot RVs. Originally known as the "34 Flow," Lake Durant was created by the lumber industry and later developed by Civilian Conservation Corps crews in the 1930s, opening as a public campground in 1948. The campground offers extensive recreational opportunities. The 133-mile Northville-Placid Trail passes directly through the campground, providing access to the Blue Ridge Wilderness and Blue Mountain Wild Forest trail networks. Popular day hikes include the 2.75-mile trek to Stephens Pond. Lake Durant supports fishing for tigermusky, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, sunfish, and brook trout, with an accessible fishing pier available. The campground features a concrete boat launch, rowboat and kayak rentals, and a designated sand beach for swimming. Facilities include flush toilets, hot showers in multiple buildings, a trailer dump station, and campsite 1A is fully accessible with a path to a lake viewing area. The campground is conveniently located near the Adirondack Experience museum in Blue Mountain Lake, just 2 miles north on Route 28.
