About
As one of the smallest and most remote campgrounds in Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Rymers Campground is beloved for its beautiful surroundings and seclusion. Located on the Jacks Fork River at river mile 82, this 4-site backcountry campground serves as both a peaceful camping destination and a convenient river access point for floating trips.
Throughout the year, visitors enjoy varied experiences. Summer brings opportunities to cool off in deep swimming holes, while fall transforms the forest into a rainbow of colors. As winter approaches, tall bluffs reveal themselves through bare trees, creating dramatic scenery. Like other campgrounds on the Jacks Fork, Rymers sees year-round visitation from those seeking a more primitive camping experience.
Access to Rymers requires some adventure. The campground is roughly 20 minutes from Birch Tree, Missouri, but the final 2.5 miles are on rough, narrow gravel roads where high clearance vehicles are recommended. This remoteness is part of the appeal for campers seeking solitude away from larger developed campgrounds.
Directions
From Birch Tree, head west on Highway 60 for 4 miles. Turn north onto State Highway M and stay on this road for 1.5 miles, then take the right turn to stay on M. After another 2 miles, the road will turn to gravel (County Road M-471). Stay on the main path for about 2.5 miles until you reach Rymers Campground. High clearance is recommended for the gravel portion.
