Positioned along the edge of the Jacks Fork River, Bay Creek Campground is the largest backcountry campground in Ozark National Scenic Riverways. In contrast to the nearby developed Alley Spring Campground, Bay Creek offers a more rustic experience with mostly shaded sites beneath a lush tree canopy. The campground's 11 sites draw campers, floaters, and hunters who return year after year for the cool, spring-fed waters and peaceful natural setting.
The adjacent river provides excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, with Bald Eagles, White-Tailed Deer, and other native species frequently spotted in the area. The campground's location makes it a popular base for river activities and exploration of the surrounding Ozark forests. While the setting is more primitive than developed campgrounds, Bay Creek offers vault toilets year-round and sufficient space for RVs and trailers as specified in park regulations.
Access to Bay Creek requires traveling on gravel roads for approximately 2 miles. From Eminence, visitors drive west on Highway 106 for about 9.7 miles, then turn left onto County Road 106-425 and follow the gravel road for just over 2 miles until reaching the campground at Bay Creek. As a backcountry campground, visitors should be prepared to bring their own water and all necessary supplies, as no water is available on-site.
Directions
Starting in Eminence, drive west on Highway 106 for about 9.7 miles, then turn left onto County Road 106-425. Stay straight on the main path as it heads into the woods. Follow the gravel road for just over 2 miles until it runs into Bay Creek. This route requires driving on gravel roads for about 2 miles.
