About

Located in the heart of Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Bachers Campground provides a true backcountry camping experience along the Jacks Fork River. The single campsite sits just downstream from Blue Spring, surrounded by impressive bluffs and deep, inviting swimming holes that give the area its distinctive character. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the Jacks Fork corridor. About a mile downstream, Jam Up Cave draws summer floaters seeking a break from the river. Wildlife viewing is excellent throughout the area, and fall brings particularly scenic foliage. Like all backcountry sites at Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Bachers offers basic amenities: a picnic table, fire ring, lantern post, and vault toilet. Campers must bring their own water as none is available on site. Getting to Bachers requires a 20-minute drive from Mountain View, MO, including 3 miles on gravel roads. High clearance vehicles are recommended. From Mountain View, head east on Highway 60 for 3 miles, turn left onto Highway OO, drive north about 2.5 miles, turn left onto County Road OO-493, follow for 1.4 miles, then right onto 493B for 1.6 miles to the campground.
