About
Big Pine Campground is a peaceful Forest Service campground tucked beneath towering pines along scenic Hat Creek in Lassen National Forest. The 19 sites offer a classic national forest camping experience with fire rings, BBQ grills, and picnic tables at each site. Potable water is available from faucets, and vault toilets serve the campground. The campground sits at 4,700 feet elevation, approximately one mile south of Old Station and 27 miles south of Burney on State Route 44/89. Hat Creek is famous for its wild trout fishery, drawing anglers seeking rainbow and brown trout. The location also provides convenient access to Lassen Volcanic National Park, with the Manzanita Lake entrance just 9 miles to the south. The campground is best suited for tent camping and smaller RVs due to site configurations. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov, though some sites may be first-come, first-served. A 14-day stay limit applies.
