About

Big Pine Campground sits along the banks of Hat Creek in Lassen National Forest, approximately one mile south of Old Station at 4,700 feet elevation. The campground's 19 sites are nestled beneath a canopy of tall pines, providing natural shade and a classic mountain camping experience. Hat Creek is renowned for its trophy trout fishing, making this campground particularly popular with anglers. The location offers excellent access to volcanic features and scenic trails. The Spatter Cones Trail is located directly across the highway, while Subway Cave, a fascinating lava tube cave, is just one mile north. The campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the Hat Creek Recreation Area and the surrounding Lassen National Forest. All campsites include fire rings, barbeques, and picnic tables. The campground provides vault toilets and potable water from faucets. Each site can accommodate up to two vehicles. The campground operates seasonally from April through October, with check-in after 3:00 PM and checkout before 2:00 PM. A 14-day stay limit applies.
