About
Rock Creek Campground sits at 4,600 feet elevation on the shores of Rock Creek Reservoir in Mt. Hood National Forest's Barlow Ranger District. The 33-site campground is spread across two loops, with many sites offering direct waterfront access. The surrounding mixed oak and pine forest provides scenic views of the lake and mountains, and eagles are commonly spotted nesting in the area. The 180-acre reservoir is a popular destination for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. Anglers can expect catches of bass, bluegill, and regularly stocked rainbow trout. Boats must use electric motors only; gas-powered engines are prohibited. An unmarked trail connects the campground to nearby Sportsman Campground, which offers a network of OHV trails. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Vault toilets are provided, though potable water may not be available. The campground is about 30 miles from Government Camp, where year-round skiing and additional recreation opportunities can be found.
