About
McCubbins Gulch Campground is a rustic, primitive campground located within the McCubbins Gulch OHV riding area on the eastern slopes of Mount Hood National Forest, near the boundary with Warm Springs Tribal Lands. The campground offers shady sites, many positioned alongside a small creek, providing a base camp for OHV riders exploring approximately 72 miles of designated trails open to Class 1 (quads) and Class 3 (single-track motorcycles). Full-size 4x4s and side-by-sides over 50 inches wide are not permitted on the trail system. Facilities are minimal: vault toilets and picnic tables are provided, but there is no potable water, trash service, or hookups. Campers must bring their own drinking water and pack out all garbage. The 25-foot vehicle length limit makes this campground unsuitable for large RVs. Expect to hear and see OHV activity throughout your stay. The campground is operated by concessionaire Alaska Recreational Management. Note that the adjacent Warm Springs Reservation is private tribal land; do not trespass. Oregon OHV permits and safety education cards are required for trail use.
Directions
