About

Rock Creek Campground is located on the western shore of Crane Prairie Reservoir along the Cascade Lakes Highway in the Deschutes National Forest. This campground offers excellent fishing and boating access with a boat ramp and fish cleaning stations within the campground. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife manages populations of rainbow trout, mountain whitefish, brook trout, and largemouth bass in the reservoir. The campground features large, isolated sites that can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents up to 40 feet in length. While the sites offer plenty of space and privacy, hookups for water and electricity are not available. Potable water is available from hand pumps when the water system is operational, and vault toilets serve the campground. Crane Prairie Reservoir is an exceptional spot for viewing wildlife. Sandhill cranes, bald eagles, and osprey frequent the area, while the adjacent forest provides habitat for black-backed woodpecker, Williamson's sapsucker, and mountain chickadee. On summer mornings or evenings, visitors may glimpse Rocky Mountain elk grazing the lakeside meadows. Deer, squirrel, beaver, and occasional black bears also inhabit the surrounding forest. Nearby Osprey Point offers a unique interpretive area where visitors can observe osprey nesting platforms, and the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway provides 66 miles of scenic driving through the Cascade Range.

Directions
