About
Little Cove Boat-In Campground provides a primitive camping experience on the north shore of Cultus Lake in the Deschutes National Forest. This boat-in only campground is one of three remote campgrounds on Cultus Lake, offering a quiet, rustic setting directly on the water for campers seeking solitude away from the main developed campground area. Access to Little Cove requires boating across the lake from the Cultus Lake Day Use boat ramp, located adjacent to the main Cultus Lake Campground, or hiking in along the shoreline trail. Designated parking for boat-in campers is available at the main campground area. The campground features primitive campsites with a composting toilet but no potable water, so visitors must bring adequate drinking water. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit. Cultus Lake is one of the few high Cascade lakes that allows high-speed motorized watercraft, making it popular for waterskiing, jet skiing, windsurfing, and sailing. The lake also offers excellent fishing opportunities. The campground provides access to trails leading into the Three Sisters Wilderness. Reservations can be made up to one day in advance through Recreation.gov.
Directions
From Bend, travel 46 miles southwest on Cascade Lakes Highway (Highway 46), then west on Forest Road 4635 for 2 miles to Cultus Lake Day Use area. Launch boats at the day use boat ramp and travel by boat to the north shore of the lake. Designated parking for boat-in campers is available at the main Cultus Lake Campground area.
