About
Roaring River Campground sits across Highway 224 from the Wild and Scenic Clackamas River in the Cascade Range of northern Oregon. The small, rustic campground provides access to world-class whitewater rafting, with 12.5 miles of Class III-IV rapids below nearby Indian Henry Campground. Fishing is popular for winter steelhead, spring Chinook, and late summer Coho salmon. The campground is nestled in a wooded area thick with moss and greenery at approximately 1,000 feet elevation. While the river is not visible from the sites, it can sometimes be heard. The area provides habitat for bald eagles, northern spotted owls, and peregrine falcons. A hiking trail follows the river north and south, and the West Cascades Scenic Byway offers scenic driving along the river corridor. Sites include a picnic table, campfire ring with grill, and access to vault toilets and drinking water from a hand pump. The campground accommodates tent camping with a maximum vehicle length of 16 feet.
