About

Lockaby Campground is located along the Wild and Scenic Clackamas River in Mt. Hood National Forest at approximately 900 feet elevation. The campground offers 30 campsites, most situated within a dense stand of cedar trees with river views. The Clackamas River is renowned for winter steelhead, spring Chinook, and late summer Coho salmon fishing. The river corridor provides exceptional whitewater rafting opportunities, with 12.5 miles of Class III-IV rapids accessible below nearby Indian Henry Campground. A hiking trail follows the river north and south, beginning about a mile away at Fish Creek Campground. A boat ramp at Fish Creek provides convenient river access for kayaks, canoes, and rafts. The campground sustained extensive damage from the 2020 Riverside Fire and remains closed for recovery and redesign. The Forest Service is partnering with landscape architects and the National Forest Foundation to redesign seven fire-damaged campgrounds along the Upper Clackamas River corridor.
