About

Carter Bridge Campground is located on the Wild and Scenic Clackamas River in the Mount Hood National Forest. The compact campground features a single loop winding through a forest of cedars, maples, and alders. Several sites offer views of the river, and berry patches in the area provide foraging opportunities in late summer. The Clackamas River corridor is renowned for fishing and whitewater rafting, making this campground a convenient base for water-based recreation. The adjacent Carter Bridge Day Use area provides access to views of Carter Falls. The campground sustained extensive damage from the 2020 Riverside Fire and is currently closed while undergoing recovery. Carter Bridge is among seven Upper Clackamas River campgrounds being redesigned by the Forest Service in partnership with the National Forest Foundation. No reopening date has been announced.
