About
Richardson Campground is a small, 8-acre campground located in the Castle Mountains of Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest at 5,500 feet elevation. Situated on a hillside within a lodgepole pine forest, the campground provides 3 campsites adjacent to Richardson Creek. The intimate setting offers scenic hiking trail access directly from the campground. All campgrounds on Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest operate on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Camping is limited to 16 consecutive days in one location. The campground is accessible via Forest Road 211, located about 7 miles east of White Sulphur Springs off US Highway 12 at Mile Post 49, then 5 miles south. A food storage order is in effect from March 1st to December 1st to prevent human-bear conflicts. Each campsite includes a fire ring or grill and picnic table. The campground has at least one ADA-accessible vault toilet. No potable water is available on-site, so campers must bring their own. The maximum recommended trailer length is 16 feet. Leashed dogs are welcome, but horses and motorized OHVs (except on the campground road) are not allowed.
