About

Kings Hill Campground is the highest developed campground in the Little Belt Mountains within Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, situated at approximately 8,000 feet elevation near the summit of Kings Hill Pass. The 18 campsites are positioned along the creek and equipped with picnic tables and metal fire rings. Vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump are available on site. The maximum trailer length is 35 feet. The campground provides access to a network of roads and ATV trails accessible west of the campground between July 1st and August 31st. During fire season, the nearby Porphyry Peak Lookout offers stunning views from a manned fire tower dating back to 1960, with visitors welcome to climb up when staff are available. Bears frequent the area, and mandatory food storage requirements are in effect. All food must be kept out of sight in approved containers and removed from the area after eating. The campground is located about 8 miles south of Neihart on US Highway 89.
