Kings Hill Campground
The campground typically opens mid to late June and closes around the end of September. It is the first campground in the area to close in fall. Mandatory bear food storage requirements are in effect.

At 344 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near White Sulphur Springs, moving northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... White Sulphur Springs, Newlan Creek Reservoir, and Fort Logan.

At 323 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 11 miles east of Wolf Creek, or 23 miles south of Cascade, moving northeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of east central Lewis and Clark and southwestern Cascade Counties.
About
Kings Hill Campground is the highest developed campground in the Little Belt Mountains within Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, situated at approximately 8,000 feet elevation near the summit of Kings Hill Pass. The 18 campsites are positioned along the creek and equipped with picnic tables and metal fire rings. Vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump are available on site. The maximum trailer length is 35 feet. The campground provides access to a network of roads and ATV trails accessible west of the campground between July 1st and August 31st. During fire season, the nearby Porphyry Peak Lookout offers stunning views from a manned fire tower dating back to 1960, with visitors welcome to climb up when staff are available. Bears frequent the area, and mandatory food storage requirements are in effect. All food must be kept out of sight in approved containers and removed from the area after eating. The campground is located about 8 miles south of Neihart on US Highway 89.
