Jumping Creek Campground
Currently closed for the season. Typically opens late May through October, with exact dates varying by snowfall conditions. A December windstorm has created hazards across the forest.
About
Jumping Creek Campground sits at 5,800 feet elevation along US Highway 89 in the Little Belt Mountains, 22 miles north of White Sulphur Springs and about 17 miles south of Neihart. The 10 campsites are arranged along Sheep Creek, which supports brook and rainbow trout fishing. The campground offers a quiet, lightly used setting in the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. All sites are first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. Each campsite includes a fire ring and/or grill and a picnic table. The campground provides potable water via hand pump during warmer months and has at least one ADA-accessible vault toilet. Multiple sites can accommodate long trailers up to 45 feet. Nearby historic logging roads provide motorized access to the Smoky Mountain area. To the east on US Highway 89 is a trailhead to a scenic ATV trail climbing Mizpah Peak. A food storage order is in effect March 1 through December 1 to prevent human-bear conflicts. Leashed dogs are welcome, but horses are not permitted in the campground.
