Moose Creek Campground
Open for the 2026 season. As of May 12, 2026, the water system is not operational. Campground fees ($10/night) begin May 22, 2026. First-come, first-served only. Food storage order in effect through December 1.
About
Moose Creek Campground sits along its namesake creek in the Little Belt Mountains, part of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. The 6 campsites are reached via Forest Roads 119 and 204, about 9 miles from US Highway 89. This remote setting keeps usage light and provides a peaceful basecamp for fishing Moose Creek or exploring the surrounding forest. The campground is primitive but well-equipped for a national forest site. Each campsite includes a fire ring or grill and a picnic table. Vault toilets are available, with at least one being ADA accessible. Hand-pump potable water is typically available during the warmer months, though availability varies. A motorcycle trail runs west along Allan Creek to Allan Park about one mile north. A food storage order is in effect from March 1 through December 1 to prevent bear conflicts. Leashed dogs are welcome, but horses are not permitted in the campground. Camping is limited to 16 consecutive days.
Directions
From Neihart, drive about 21 miles south on US-89, then north 6 miles on Forest Road 119, and northeast 3 miles on Forest Road 204.
