About

Reservoir Campground offers 24 standard nonelectric campsites nestled beside Wickiup Reservoir in the Deschutes National Forest. Located along the scenic Cascade Lakes Highway about 58 miles southwest of Bend, this primitive campground provides easy access to one of central Oregon's premier fishing destinations. The reservoir supports brown trout, kokanee, coho salmon, rainbow and brook trout, whitefish, and chub. Each campsite includes a fire ring with grill and picnic table, though campers must bring their own water supply as none is available on-site. Vault toilets serve the single-loop campground. A boat ramp adjacent to the campground allows both motorized and non-motorized vessels onto the 11,200-acre reservoir. The surrounding wetlands, diverse forests, and rocky slopes provide habitat for shorebirds, porcupine, deer, bats, and occasional black bears. The area holds historical significance as a fall gathering place for Native American tribes who built wickiups (brush shelters) here. Nearby attractions include the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway and Newberry National Volcanic Monument with Lava River Cave.
