About
Located along the Cascade Lakes National Scenic Byway in Deschutes National Forest, Gull Point Campground occupies a prime position on Wickiup Reservoir. The campground features 81 sites spread through an open conifer forest of ponderosa and lodgepole pine, with many sites offering lakefront access and filtered sunlight. Two day-use areas with boat launches and fish cleaning stations serve anglers and boaters. Wickiup Reservoir is one of central Oregon's premier fishing destinations. The warm, productive waters and cooler deep channels sustain trophy brown trout that frequently reach 20 pounds, with typical catches in the 5-8 pound range. The reservoir also holds kokanee and coho salmon, rainbow trout, brook trout, whitefish, and chub. Beyond fishing, the area offers excellent wildlife viewing, particularly for shorebirds and migrating waterfowl. The campground accommodates both tent and RV camping with a maximum vehicle length of 40 feet. Some pull-through sites are available. Amenities include flush toilets, a dump station, and normally potable water from hand pumps. The nearby Lava Lands Visitor Center and Lava River Cave in Newberry National Volcanic Monument provide additional exploration opportunities.
