About
North Lava Flow Campground is a small, primitive campground located on the northeast shore of Davis Lake in the Deschutes National Forest near Crescent, Oregon. The campground sits at roughly 4,400 feet elevation and offers 6 individual campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The site's most striking feature is a massive lava flow towering approximately 100 feet above the campground, providing a dramatic backdrop to an otherwise rustic setting. Davis Lake is one of the most popular fly-fishing-only lakes in the Pacific Northwest, producing abundant trophy-size rainbow trout and largemouth bass. The lake was formed roughly 6,000 years ago when a lava flow dammed Odell Creek. A boat launch at the Lava Flow area provides lake access for non-motorized watercraft. The campground is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Amenities are minimal: vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, trash service, or hookups. Campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash. The maximum vehicle length is 36 feet. Road access to the northeast shore may be closed in spring and early summer to protect vulnerable wildlife.
