About
Red Springs Campground sits along Highway 191 in the Ashley National Forest, providing a convenient base camp between Vernal and Flaming Gorge. This group campground accommodates approximately 8 RV spots depending on trailer size, plus numerous tent sites throughout the shaded loop. The facility includes concrete picnic tables, metal fire rings, a double vault toilet, and tested drinking water from multiple spigots (water turned on late July). The campground serves as an excellent jumping-off point for exploring the Ashley National Forest's diverse recreation opportunities. Nearby attractions include the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area with world-class fishing for lake trout and other sportfish, the Ashley Karst cave systems, and East Park Reservoir. Hiking, skiing, ATV, and horse trails crisscross the area. Popular destinations within an hour's drive include Sheep Creek Geological Loop, Spirit Lake, Ute Fire Tower Lookout, and Red Canyon Lodge. As a group site, the entire campground is reserved for your party, providing privacy and exclusivity. A gate code is required for access and must be confirmed with the Ashley National Forest Front Desk. The road base loop allows easy navigation for trailers and RVs.
Directions
From Vernal, travel north on Highway 191. After passing Cart Creek Meadow, look for mile marker 383. The campground entrance is on the west side (towards the ridge) 0.1 miles past mile marker 383. A loop road runs through the campground and can be driven in either direction.
