About

Limber Flag Yurt sits at the edge of a clearing at 9,000 feet elevation in Ashley National Forest, surrounded by pines and aspens with views overlooking pine forests, sagebrush flats, and grassy meadows. The yurt provides primitive but sheltered lodging for up to 8 guests on two double-size bunk beds. A wood-burning stove provides heat, a propane camp stove handles cooking, and basic cookware including a skillet and pots is available. An outdoor fire pit and vault toilet are located near the yurt. No water, electricity, linens, or bedding is provided. Guests must bring all drinking water, sleeping bags, pillows, and food. The yurt is closed November, April, and May due to muddy road conditions. Summer access requires a high-clearance 4WD vehicle via rough Forest Service roads. Winter access from December through March requires non-motorized travel only: a 3-mile ski or snowshoe from the trailhead on Highway 191. Snowmobiles are prohibited on the trail. Reservations are made through Recreation.gov. Guests must call the Vernal Ranger District at least three business days before arrival to obtain the door lock combination. The district office is closed weekends. Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area and its world-class fishing are within 25 miles.
