About
Greens Lake Campground occupies a scenic position on the shore of Greens Lake within the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, approximately 40 miles north of Vernal, Utah. At 7,400 feet elevation, the campground is shaded by lodgepole pines, ponderosa pines, and aspens, with summer wildflowers adding color to the landscape. The lake sits about a mile from spectacular red cliffs overlooking Flaming Gorge Reservoir. The campground features 19 single-family sites and one group site accommodating up to 40 people. All sites are non-electric and first-come, first-served. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets and potable water are provided, though water availability may be limited during dry conditions. Showers are available at nearby Deer Run and Mustang Ridge campgrounds with proof of registration; dump stations are located at Antelope Flat, Deer Run, Firefighters, and Lodgepole for a fee. Greens Lake allows only non-motorized watercraft, making it ideal for canoeing and kayaking. The lake provides fishing opportunities for rainbow and brook trout. Red Canyon Lodge directly across the lake offers canoe and bike rentals, horseback riding, a restaurant, and a gift shop. The Red Canyon Rim Trail begins at the nearby visitor center, which also features interpretive displays. Flaming Gorge Dam, with tours of the working hydroelectric facility, and world-class fishing on the reservoir are within easy reach.
