About

Greens Lake Campground is nestled on the shore of its scenic namesake lake at 7,400 feet elevation in the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. The campground sits along Red Canyon Road, approximately one mile from the stunning red cliffs that provide breathtaking views of Flaming Gorge Reservoir below. Lodgepole and ponderosa pines, along with aspens, dot the landscape providing partial shade, while summer brings an abundance of wildflowers and grasses to enhance the natural beauty. Greens Lake is a small, tranquil lake restricted to non-motorized watercraft only, offering excellent canoeing and fishing opportunities for rainbow and brook trout. Red Canyon Lodge sits directly across the lake, providing canoe, fishing rod, and bike rentals, horseback riding, a restaurant, and a gift shop. The 4.6-mile Red Canyon Rim Trail for hiking and biking begins at the nearby Red Canyon Visitor Center and ends at Greendale Overlook, offering engaging interpretive programs and incredible scenic views. The wider Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area is renowned for its beautiful red cliffs and world-class fishing. The Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam provides spectacular rafting opportunities through unique geology, outlaw history sites, and Native American rock art. Flaming Gorge Dam itself offers guided tours of the working hydroelectric plant.
