Ashley National Forest Order 050115A1 regarding: Closure of Fishing from Concrete Boat Ramps on Flaming Gorge Reservoir
About
Greendale Campground is nestled in the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area on the Ashley National Forest at an elevation of 6,900 feet. Towering ponderosa pines provide partial shade over the campground, with grasses and wildflowers covering the forest floor in summer. The campground consists of 8 single sites on the west side with paved roads and spurs, and 2 group sites on the east side with dirt surfaces that can accommodate up to 40 people each. Flaming Gorge Reservoir lies less than 5 miles from camp, renowned for its lake, brown, and rainbow trout fishing. Cedar Springs Marina is just 3.5 miles away. Boating, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, and swimming are all popular activities. Bear Canyon Trail, an easy 3-mile round-trip hike, begins about a mile from the campground and offers views of Red Canyon and the reservoir. Flaming Gorge Dam provides guided tours of the working hydroelectric plant, and the adjacent visitor center features area history exhibits. The Green River below the dam offers rafting opportunities with unique geology, outlaw history, and Native American rock art along the route.
