About
Red Hills Campground was a 5-site campground situated along the Gros Ventre River in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, approximately 12 miles from Kelly, Wyoming. The campground was managed by the U.S. Forest Service and previously charged $10 per night. Despite its scenic location hugged between Gros Ventre Road and the river, the campground averaged only 590 visitors per year and offered minimal amenities beyond basic restrooms and running water. The Bridger-Teton National Forest officially closed and decommissioned Red Hills Campground as part of a management plan to eliminate underutilized facilities. Forest Service recreation managers determined that the nearby Crystal Creek Campground, located just half a mile away, could easily accommodate the limited use Red Hills received while providing a similar riverside camping experience with better facilities. The campground is no longer available for camping and has been removed from the forest's campground inventory. Visitors to the Gros Ventre area can still access quality camping at Crystal Creek Campground and other developed sites along the Gros Ventre River corridor, all offering scenic views of the red hills and access to hiking trails in this dramatic landscape east of the Teton Range.
