About

Atherton Creek Campground occupies a scenic position on Lower Slide Lake within the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The 21-site campground offers a quieter alternative to the busier areas around Grand Teton National Park while remaining only 30 minutes from Jackson. The paved Gros Ventre Road provides easy access, passing through stands of quaking aspen with views of the river valley. The campground features a boat ramp and dock at the adjacent Atherton Creek Boating Site, making it a prime location for fishing and paddling on Lower Slide Lake. Trout fishing is productive, and the lake provides peaceful evening floats for wildlife viewing. Each campsite comes equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food storage box. Vault toilets are provided and potable water is available from a hand pump during the operating season. A food storage order is in effect requiring proper use of bear boxes. The campground has a 5-day stay limit. No cellular service is available in the area.

Directions

From Jackson, head north on US-189/North Cache Street for 7 miles. Turn right onto Lower Gros Ventre Road and continue 8 miles through the town of Kelly. Turn right onto Gros Ventre River Road (Forest Road 30400) and travel approximately 6 miles to the campground on the right. Total distance is 21 miles, approximately 32 minutes.
