About

Hatchet Campground is a small Forest Service campground located along the scenic Highway 26/287 corridor between Jackson and Dubois, Wyoming. Situated about 8 miles east of Moran Junction, it provides quick highway access while remaining tucked into timbered terrain characteristic of the Buffalo Valley area. The Buffalo Fork of the Snake River flows nearby, offering fishing opportunities on designated wild and scenic waters. The campground features first-come, first-served sites ranging from 18 to 24 feet in length, with two pull-through sites available for larger vehicles. Each site is equipped with a fire ring, and the campground provides bear boxes for required food storage, a vault toilet, and a dumpster. Drinking water is available from a hand pump. During fall hunting season, this campground serves as a popular staging area for hunters accessing the surrounding Bridger-Teton backcountry.

Directions

From Moran, Wyoming, head east on US Highway 26/287 for approximately 8 miles. Turn right onto Flagstaff Road (Forest Service Road 30160), then take the first left onto FS Road 30217 to arrive at the campground.
