About
Red Feather Campground occupies a scenic position on the eastern shore of Little Grass Valley Reservoir in the Northern Sierra Nevada Mountains. At roughly 5,100 feet elevation, the campground is surrounded by thick stands of pine and fir trees typical of the region. The reservoir was formed by dam construction in the 1960s and now spans 1,615 acres, supporting a variety of recreational activities. The campground features 60 sites across two loops, including 12 coveted lakeside spots. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring with grill, paved parking spur, and access to bear-resistant food storage containers. Flush toilets and potable water are provided seasonally. A dump station is located nearby. The maximum occupancy is 8 people and 2 vehicles per site, with a 14-day stay limit. The Lakeshore Trail loops 13.5 miles around the reservoir and connects to the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. The lake supports fishing for rainbow trout, brown trout, and kokanee salmon (license required), along with boating from the nearby Maidu ramp, water skiing, and swimming. Pets are allowed on leash.
