About

Red Canyon Campground offers a peaceful retreat in a grassy meadow high above Flaming Gorge Reservoir in northeastern Utah. Perched at 7,400 feet elevation along Red Canyon Road, this small campground features 8 sites nestled among lodgepole and ponderosa pines with stunning views of the red cliffs overlooking the reservoir. The campground provides a quiet base for exploring the surrounding Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. Nearby Greens Lake offers excellent opportunities for canoeing and fishing for rainbow and brook trout. Red Canyon Lodge sits on the lakeshore and provides canoe and bike rentals, horseback riding, a restaurant, and a gift shop. The Red Canyon Rim Trail begins at the nearby visitor center, offering scenic hiking and biking routes with interpretive displays about the area. The campground's location provides access to world-class fishing on Flaming Gorge Reservoir and the Green River below the dam, which offers rafting through unique geological formations and Native American rock art sites. The campground includes vault toilets and seasonal drinking water (mid-late May through mid-September). Each site has a picnic table and campfire ring, with firewood available for purchase at nearby Greens Lake Campground. Dump stations are located at other Flaming Gorge campgrounds (Antelope Flat, Deer Run, Firefighters, and Lodgepole), and showers are available at Deer Run and Mustang Ridge for registered campers. The campground offers both reservable and first-come, first-served sites.
