About
Red Canyon Campground sits in a grassy meadow at 7,400 feet elevation along Red Canyon Road in northeastern Utah, offering views of the stunning red cliffs above Flaming Gorge Reservoir. The small campground features 8 standard nonelectric sites with picnic tables and fire rings, scattered among lodgepole and ponderosa pines that provide limited shade. Summer wildflowers are plentiful throughout the area. Nearby Greens Lake offers excellent canoeing and fishing for rainbow and brook trout, with Red Canyon Lodge on its shore providing canoe and bike rentals, horseback riding, a restaurant, and gift shop. The Red Canyon Rim Trail begins at the nearby visitor center, which features interpretive displays about the area. Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area is renowned for world-class fishing for lake, brown, and rainbow trout. The reservoir supports boating, water skiing, kayaking, and swimming. Flaming Gorge Dam offers guided tours of the working hydroelectric plant, and the Green River below the dam provides spectacular rafting through unique geology and past Native American rock art.
