About

Jarvies Boat-In Group Campground offers a unique backcountry camping experience on the shores of Flaming Gorge Reservoir in northeastern Utah. Nestled in Jarvies Canyon at 6,040 feet, the campground is part of the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area within the Ashley National Forest. Access is exclusively by boat, with Cedar Springs Marina being the closest launch point approximately 20 minutes across the water. The single group site (GB1) accommodates up to 40 people and includes a large picnic shelter with tables, three tent pads, two campfire rings with grills, a private dock, and one vault toilet. The site is surrounded by dense stands of juniper and pinyon pine offering limited shade, with expansive views of the reservoir and its dramatic red cliff formations from the picnic shelter. Boating, water skiing, fishing, and swimming are steps from the campsites. A hiking trail also passes through the area. Nearby attractions include guided tours of Flaming Gorge Dam's hydroelectric plant and rafting on the Green River below the dam, featuring unique geology and Native American rock art.

Directions

Access is by boat only. Cedar Springs Marina is the closest boat ramp. From Vernal, Utah, take U.S. 191 north 42 miles, turn north onto Forest Road 183 and travel approximately 2 miles to Cedar Springs Marina. From Manila, Utah, take Highway 44 for 28 miles, turn left on U.S. 191 north for about 4 miles, then turn north onto Forest Road 183 for 2 miles.
