Closure of Fishing on Concrete Boat Ramps withing Flaming Gorge Reservoir

For the protection of public health and safety, it is prohibited to fish from any concrete boat ramp on the Flaming Gorge Reservoir.

About

Kingfisher Island offers a unique and serene camping experience with 8 boat-in only tent sites on its picturesque east shore in the southwest arm of Flaming Gorge Reservoir. The campground features new docks that provide easy access to the island, with each campsite having its own individual dock tie-off spot. Vault restrooms are available on the island, including a floating restroom on the dock. Campers must bring all their own drinking water as potable water is not available. The island provides an excellent base for exploring Flaming Gorge Reservoir, which is home to mackinaw (lake trout), Utah chub, rainbow trout, channel catfish, and smallmouth bass. The Green River below the dam is one of the best trout streams in the country and is also popular among rafters and kayakers. Over 220 miles of trails are available throughout the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. Weather conditions on the reservoir can change rapidly with potential thunderstorms, so boaters should monitor conditions carefully. A Recreation Fee Pass is required at all Forest Service boat launch parking areas, including Sheep Creek Bay and Lucerne Boat Launch where campers typically park.

Directions

Accessible by boat only. Launch from Sheep Creek Boat Ramp (3 miles to island), Lucerne Valley (7 miles), Antelope Flat (7 miles), or Flaming Gorge Dam (17.5 miles). Park at Lucerne Boat Launch or Sheep Creek Bay Boat Launch.
