Closure of Fishing on Concrete Boat Ramps withing Flaming Gorge Reservoir

Ashley National Forest Order 050115A1 regarding:  Closure of Fishing from Concrete Boat Ramps on Flaming Gorge Reservoir

About

Nestled in the southwest arm of Flaming Gorge Reservoir, Kingfisher Island offers a serene and remote camping experience accessible only by boat. The campground features 8 tent sites positioned along the island's east shore, each with its own individual dock tie-off spot. Recent improvements include new docks that provide convenient access and stunning panoramic views of the reservoir and surrounding canyon landscape. Fishing enthusiasts will find excellent opportunities in Flaming Gorge Reservoir, which is home to mackinaw (lake trout), rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, and Utah chub. The reservoir is part of the larger Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, which offers over 220 miles of trails and access to the Green River below the dam, one of the premier trout streams in the country. The campground is accessible from several boat ramps: 3 miles from Sheep Creek Boat Ramp, 7 miles from Lucerne Valley or Antelope Flat, and 17.5 miles from Flaming Gorge Dam. A floating restroom on the dock serves campground visitors, though potable water is not available. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit. The location provides opportunities for boating, waterskiing, swimming, wildlife viewing, and exploring the stunning geologic formations of the area.

Boat-in access only. Kingfisher Island is located 3 miles from Sheep Creek Boat Ramp, 7 miles from Lucerne Valley or Antelope Flat boat ramps, and 17.5 miles from Flaming Gorge Dam. Each of the 8 campsites has an individual dock tie-off spot.
