San Angelo State Park

San Angelo State Park encompasses over 7,000 acres surrounding O.C. Fisher Reservoir in Tom Green County, Texas. The landscape features rolling mesquite grasslands, rocky outcrops, and extensive shoreline access. The park is home to the Official Texas State Longhorn Herd as well as a small bison herd, offering reliable wildlife viewing opportunities directly from park roads. Camping options span multiple areas across the park's north and south shores. The Red Arroyo camping area on the South Shore is closest to town and offers 40 sites with 30/50 amp electric and water hookups, each featuring a picnic table, fire ring, outdoor grill, and shade shelter. The Bald Eagle area provides 11 similar electric/water sites where horses are permitted when the North Concho area is full. The North Concho Equestrian area has 10 sites with pens for horses. Primitive drive-up camping is available at 33 sites scattered across Bald Eagle, Isabel Harte, and Red Arroyo areas. The park offers over 50 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Fishing and boating are available when water levels permit. Restrooms with showers serve the developed camping areas, and a dump station is on site for RV waste disposal.

From San Angelo, take US 67 south toward Mertzon. Turn left onto FM 2288. The park entrance is approximately 5 miles on the right at 362 S. FM 2288, San Angelo, TX 76901.
