Lake Colorado City State Park is a 500-acre park in Mitchell County, Texas, situated along the shores of Lake Colorado City, a 1,655-acre reservoir originally built as a cooling pond for a nearby power plant. The warm water temperatures create unique fishing conditions, making it a popular destination for anglers targeting largemouth bass, channel catfish, and crappie. The park lies in the rolling plains of West Texas between Midland and Abilene, offering a semi-arid landscape with mesquite trees and native grasses. The campground offers 112 campsites divided among several loops including Rolling Hills, Mesquite Circle, and Armadillo Hill areas. Sites range from basic water-only campsites to premium pull-through sites with electricity, all featuring picnic tables, fire rings with grills, shade shelters, and lantern posts. Restrooms with showers are available in each camping loop. The park also has 11 cabins for those seeking more comfortable accommodations. Recreational opportunities include a boat ramp, fishing pier with wheelchair access, swimming beach, and kayak rentals. Several miles of trails wind through the park for hiking and wildlife observation. The park is open year-round, though visitors should check for current alerts as construction projects may temporarily affect certain facilities.

From I-20, take exit 217 (FM 2836) south of Colorado City. Travel south on FM 2836 for approximately 6 miles to the park entrance at 4582 FM 2836, Colorado City, TX 79512.
