About

Flatrock campground is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility located on Hords Creek Lake, approximately 8 miles west of Coleman, Texas. Situated among gently rolling hills covered with live oak trees, the campground provides a scenic getaway in central Texas, just north of the Texas Hill Country. The campground features more than 50 sites with water and electric hookups, with 10 sites offering full hookups including sewer. Seven group shelters are available for day use. Amenities include boat ramps, fishing piers, and a swim beach exclusively for overnight campers. The lake is known for excellent fishing opportunities, with largemouth bass, sunfish, and white crappie being the most popular catches. When water levels permit, water skiing and other water sports are also available. Nearby Friendship Park and Lakeside Park provide additional recreation options around the lake. The town of Coleman, just 8 miles east, offers convenient access to supplies and services. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov, and the campground no longer accepts cash payments. The park gate closes nightly between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. for security, and visitors should note that cell phone coverage is very limited.
