About
Kickapoo Cavern State Park preserves 6,400 acres of remote Hill Country terrain in Kinney County, featuring Stuart Bat Cave and Kickapoo Cavern as the main attractions. Stuart Bat Cave hosts a Mexican free-tailed bat colony from mid-March through late October, with nightly emergence viewing from a wheelchair-accessible observation platform. Guided cave tours are offered Saturdays at 1 p.m. by reservation. The campground offers 5 full hookup sites with water, electric, and sewer connections ($25/night) and 10 water-only sites for tents and small campers ($15/night). Full hookup sites accommodate RVs up to 36 feet; water-only sites are restricted to tents and small campers and will not fit fifth wheels or Class A motorhomes. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring or upright grill, lantern post, and cement slab. Restrooms with showers are located nearby. This is a pack-it-out facility with no trash service. The park operates Friday through Monday only (closed Tuesday-Thursday), with gates open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends and 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays. Given the limited operating days and remote location, reservations are strongly recommended as the park frequently reaches capacity.
Directions
