About

Lakeside Campground and Recreation Area is located on the northern shore of Hords Creek Lake in Coleman County, Texas. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this established campground offers approximately 60 campsites with water and electric hookups in a scenic setting of gently rolling hills dotted with live oak trees. The lake is known for excellent fishing opportunities, including largemouth bass, white crappie, channel and flathead catfish, and sunfish. The lake record largemouth bass weighed 11 pounds 4 ounces. Multiple fishing areas are ADA-accessible, and the shoreline provides extensive bank fishing access along with three fishing piers. Boaters will find ramps available, and major coves have speed limit restrictions to enhance sportfishing. The campground is conveniently located just eight miles west of Coleman, Texas, providing easy access to city amenities. Adjacent parks include Friendship Park and Flatrock Park. The Corps of Engineers office no longer accepts cash payments at campgrounds or boat ramps. Note that zebra mussels have been detected in the lake, so visitors should follow Clean, Drain, Dry protocols to prevent their spread.
