About

Harris Beach State Park sits on a dramatic stretch of Oregon's south coast, where rocky headlands meet sandy beaches and offshore sea stacks punctuate the Pacific horizon. The campground occupies a forested hillside just steps from the beach, with loops arranged across three main areas. Full-hookup and electric sites accommodate RVs up to 55 feet, while tent sites nestle among coastal vegetation with water spigots nearby. Six yurts offer an alternative for those seeking shelter without a tent. The park's beaches provide access to tidepools, driftwood-strewn shores, and views of Bird Island, Oregon's largest offshore island and a protected National Wildlife Refuge home to nesting seabirds and marine mammals. Several short trails wind through the park, connecting day-use areas to beaches and viewpoints. The adjacent Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor offers additional hiking along some of Oregon's most spectacular coastal scenery. Brookings enjoys a mild microclimate with warmer temperatures than much of the Oregon coast, making year-round camping viable. The campground stays open throughout the year, though some loops close seasonally. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance through Oregon State Parks.
