About

Nook Bar Camping and Day Use Area provides dispersed campsites for tents or small trailers on a large gravel bar along the beautiful Wild and Scenic Chetco River in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. Located approximately 3 miles from the Forest boundary on Forest Service Road 1376, the site offers excellent summer recreation opportunities including swimming in the crystal-clear waters, fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing. A few shaded camping spots can be found along the tree line, though most sites are on the open gravel bar. The area is best suited for summer camping when visitors can enjoy the outstanding river access. Camping on the gravel bar during winter months is discouraged due to frequent high-water events that can make the area hazardous. Facilities are minimal, reflecting the dispersed nature of the campground. A vault toilet is available year-round, and garbage disposal service is provided from Memorial Day through Labor Day. No potable water is available on-site. The campground charges $10 per night per vehicle with a maximum stay of 14 days. Quiet hours are enforced between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and campfires are only permitted in developed fire pits.
