About

Miller Bar operates as a dispersed camping area on a large gravel bar along the beautiful Wild and Scenic Chetco River, approximately 2 miles from the Forest boundary on Forest Road 1376. The site provides a rustic riverside camping experience with outstanding opportunities for summer recreation in the crystal-clear waters of the Chetco River, including swimming, fishing, and boating. A few shaded camping spots can be found along the treeline, though most of the camping area is on the open gravel bar. The site is suitable for tents or small trailers only due to the terrain and limited space. Facilities are minimal, with vault toilets provided but no drinking water available. Garbage disposal service is provided from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Winter camping on the gravel bar is strongly discouraged due to the frequency of high water events on the Chetco River during the rainy season. The campground sees heavy use during summer months. Quiet hours are enforced between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and dogs must be kept on leash. The site is accessed via paved North Bank Chetco River Road from Brookings.

Directions

From Brookings, Oregon, turn off US Highway 101 onto the North Bank Chetco River Road (County Road 784). This becomes Forest Road 1376. Miller Bar is approximately 2 miles from the Forest boundary on Forest Road 1376.
